Why I Built Palettiq (And Why You Might Actually Need It)
If you’ve ever hired a designer or developer, you know the awkward part isn’t the work — it’s the beginning. What most people actually need first is a free website design preview tool, something that shows them their site’s direction before any real work starts.
I’ve been on both sides of that conversation more times than I can count. And after a while, I got tired of it.
So I built Palettiq.
The problem I kept running into
Most people don’t actually know what they want their website to look like. Not because they lack taste — because “good design” is genuinely hard to picture until you see it. Ask someone to describe their dream homepage in words and you’ll get vague answers like “clean,” “professional,” “something like Apple but not too plain.” That’s not their fault. Nobody thinks in Figma files.
The result? Clients approve a direction they’re only half-sure about. Designers build based on guesses. And somewhere around revision four, everyone realizes they should’ve had this conversation earlier — with actual visuals, not adjectives.
I wanted a way to skip straight to “oh yeah, that’s it” — before a single hour of real design work gets billed.
Palettiq: A Free Website Design Preview Tool
Palettiq is a free style visualizer. You pick an industry — say, real estate, healthcare, or e-commerce — and you get a fully designed template with real layouts and real content, not lorem ipsum placeholders. From there, you can swap fonts, change your color palette, and watch the whole page update instantly.
No signup. No tutorial. No “book a call to see a demo.” You open it, you play with it, and within a couple of minutes you have a much clearer sense of what fits your brand and what doesn’t.
Currently, Palettiq supports industries like healthcare and education, with more templates rolling out regularly.
Who this is actually for
Founders and small business owners who want to walk into a conversation with a developer already knowing their direction, instead of hoping the developer reads their mind.
Agencies who want a faster, cheaper way to align with clients on style before kicking off a full design sprint.
Designers and developers who are tired of the back-and-forth that happens when “modern and clean” turns out to mean five different things to five different people.
Basically, if you’ve ever said “I’ll know it when I see it” — Palettiq lets you actually see it, first.
Why I Built It This Way
The goal is simple: help people reach that “This is exactly what I was imagining!” moment as quickly as possible. If someone has to create an account, verify their email, and complete a form before they can even experiment with colors or fonts, there’s a good chance they’ll leave before experiencing the value.
So it’s free, it’s instant, and it’s built to be played with — not filled out like a form.
Under the hood, it’s a Next.js app, which means it’s fast and it scales well as I keep adding more industry templates and customization options.
What’s next
More industries, more template variety within each industry, and an export flow that makes it even easier to hand your finished style off to a developer (hi, that could be me). I built Palettiq alongside my client work, so it’s shaped by the exact problems I keep running into on real projects — which means it’ll keep evolving as those projects do.
